Hello, my name is Jeremy. I am from the United States, and more specifically New York. I have been fortunate enough to be educated at a prestigious university. After a year of travelling around Sweden, at the age of 18, I went to the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and completed a Bachelors degree in Journalism and Anthropology and graduated with high marks. I love to travel and live in new places. Kiev is a new and exciting adventure for me! Teaching is something I am very passionate about. I am always trying to find different and interesting ways to explain the English language. I am formally qualified to teach English as a second language, having been trained in TESOL/TEFL through TESOL Express. Also, following my graduation from UMass Amherst I taught a variety of subjects including English, Math, History, Social Studies, Science and more for students from grade school all the way through high school. Furthermore, in Russia, I taught adult business professionals and in Slovakia I worked with small children. Along with my teaching experience I have worked as a journalist and an editor for newspapers and other media. I believe we are more receptive when lessons are more than just repetitive grammar tables, and use news articles, films and literature to keep things diverse and engaging. This approach has always been effective in the past and it brings me great pleasure to see the progress of my students as their interest and confidence grows. Having been a language student myself in Sweden and Russia, my own learning experience has informed my teaching methods. I strongly believe that the best way for students to learn and gain confidence in the language is through real conversation and interaction and when they have a teacher that tailors lessons to their unique needs.
